Porridge preparation - make it at home
The classic Porridge original recipe consists of a warm porridge. Milk and/or water and oat flakes are mixed together. This is boiled up and only refined with a pinch of salt.
If you need to prepare your hot breakfast even faster, you can also use the microwave. Alternatively, pour over the oatmeal mixture with the kettle. Leave to stand briefly and enjoy.
The Verival Porridge varieties are ready to eat in 3 minutes.
Porridge comes originally from Scotland and is also known as porridge or gruel. In the USA the porridge is called Oatmeal. Variants can also be found in Asian countries. There, however, they are usually based on rice or quinoa instead of oatmeal. A global hit, so to speak.
Classic porridge recipe:
The Scottish porridge is easy to make and quick to prepare. You only need three basic ingredients:
180 ml milk
3-4 tablespoons oat flakes (approx. 30-40 grams Verival Porridge)
1 pinch of salt
Bring the milk to the boil in a saucepan and add the 30-40 grams of oat flakes (Verival Porridge). Stir vigorously once and lower the heat.
The porridge should now be stirred continuously for about five minutes, simmering until the overall result is a nice, creamy texture. If you want a creamier and sweeter porridge, just add a mashed banana.
Take the pot off the cooker and let the porridge steep a bit. Add a pinch of salt to the taste et voilá. A classic Scottish porridge.
We only use selected ingredients as the basis for our organic porridge mixtures produced in Tyrol. For our gluten-free varieties we rely on oat bran or oat flakes.
This provides a lot of healthy energy. The carbohydrates keep you full for a long time and help to keep the blood sugar level stable through certain dietary fibres such as beta glucane1. This even reduces the risk of heart disease and you're declaring war on ravenous appetite attacks late in the morning!
On top of that, porridge also contains many important vitamins, fibre and minerals. As a further incentive, we supplement our porridge mixes with ingredients that suit the taste of the porridge: Crunchy almonds, naturally sweet fruit pieces and healthy seeds are the ultimate and a must have.
By the way, we are particularly careful when selecting the right ingredients (combinations). We test a lot and ultimately select only the best raw materials. In this way we guarantee that you really only get the best porridge that meets your requirements. Read more...

Milk, water or milk alternatives - what goes better with my porridge?
In classic porridge, cow's milk and/or water are used. However, there is nothing to be said against alternatives such as vegetable drinks (oat milk), coconut milk, rice milk or soy milk.
According to a study of cow's milk, as well as various plant drinks, the plant drinks prove to be far more ecological. Just try them, find out for yourself what tastes best and suits your taste type.
Oat soup is a diluted version. The gruel is strained from the oat flakes after cooking.
