Oat Biscuits Recipe

  • Recipes

Oat biscuits are biscuits that are particularly popular in Scandinavian countries. In these biscuits, oats in the form of oat flakes are added to the dough in addition to flour.

The oat flakes in the oat biscuits give the biscuits a healthy touch. This is because oats contain valuable fibre, plant-based proteins and minerals as well as vitamins.

Ingredients for your oat biscuits

To make your own oatmeal biscuits, you will need butter, sugar, rolled oats, ground almonds, flour, eggs, cinnamon, a pinch of salt and baking powder.

You probably have most of these ingredients at home, so you can start making the oatmeal biscuits right away.

Oatmeal biscuit preparation

The preparation of oat biscuits is quick and easy. Follow the instructions below:

Make your own oat biscuit dough

The butter should be soft to start the preparation. You can also preheat the oven to 180 degrees.

Cream the soft butter and the egg with a mixer.

Mix the remaining ingredients in a separate bowl.

When the butter mixture is fluffy, add the flour mixture with the dry ingredients one by one. And within a few minutes the dough is ready!

Shape the dough into biscuits

To make oat biscuits, scoop out some of the dough with a spoon and form small balls with your hand.

Place these balls on the prepared baking tray, spacing them well apart. The spacing must be large so that the biscuits do not overflow into each other.

Ideally, you should place a maximum of 14 of your shaped balls per tray. Once the balls are in place, bake them on the middle shelf for about 12 to 15 minutes until golden brown.

Remove the oat biscuits from the baking tray and leave them to cool on a baking rack.

Enjoy and store the oat biscuits

Now it’s time to enjoy! If you have leftover oat biscuits, you can safely store them in a box for later.

Just make sure you don’t put them in the box until they are completely cool.
