6 reasons why oats are so healthy!

Oats are one of the healthiest foods. The nutrient-rich oat flakes consist of both the germ and the outer layers of the oat grain.

Oats are mainly eaten as a healthy breakfast in the form of porridge, overnight oats or muesli and can be prepared quickly. The valuable flakes are considered superfood and are also interesting for sportsmen and vegetarians.

Reasons why oats are so healthy

Oat flakes contain many important nutrients, vitamins, minerals, fiber and antioxidants and is low in gluten. The beta-glucans contained in oatmeal improve the insulin balance, reduce blood sugar and lead to an increase in good intestinal bacteria.

Beta-glucans can also be useful in cases of high cholesterol. They help to lower LDL cholesterol. The high content of plant substances of the antioxidant group avenanthramides have an anti-inflammatory effect. As oatmeal is long lasting and filling, it helps to effectively prevent ravenous appetite attacks and thus supports weight loss.

Oat flakes contain many important nutrients

100 g of oat flakes contain 375 kilocalories, which provide a good start to the day rich in vitamins and fibre.

Oats keep you full for a long time

Oats help to lose weight and are the ideal breakfast to stay slim. They contain a lot of fibre. In combination with yoghurt and fruit, you don’t need a snack between meals and are guaranteed to stay full until lunch.

A healthy breakfast with oats leads to a quick feeling of fullness and also stimulates fat burning.

Oat flakes are good for your digestive system

As a tried and tested household remedy, the healthy oat flakes can alleviate the symptoms of stomach or intestinal diseases in particular. The fibre contained in the oats forms a protective layer in the stomach. The indigestible plant fibres swell up in the gastrointestinal tract and will stimulate your digestion.

Oat flakes are high in protein

The oat grain is a good source of protein (for 100g oat flakes 12g protein). If you include oats in your daily diet, your body will benefit from its high protein content.

Oat proteins are made up of essential amino acids that the body cannot produce itself, including the branched-chain amino acids leucine, valid and isoleucine. As it is a vegetable protein source, oatmeal is also an ideal alternative, especially for vegetarians and vegans.

Type 2 diabetes – Oats will help you out

The beta-glucans contained in the oat flakes prevent the sharp rise in blood sugar levels. This is particularly important for people suffering from type 2 diabetes. The long-chain carbohydrates in oats are broken down much more slowly than simple sugars.

Prepare oat flakes in many ways

The small flakes can be used very varied, fast and uncomplicated. You can eat them classically for breakfast as porridge, overnight oats or muesli. In the cold season, porridge is probably a delicious warm breakfast for you. In summer, quick preparations made from oatmeal that can be enjoyed cold will keep you full and healthy.

But they are also healthy, tasty and quickly prepared as crispy breadcrumbs for meat or fish dishes, as muesli bars, in homemade bread, as toppings on yoghurt, cakes and tarts or in biscuits. The warm porridge that is popular in England, is also becoming increasingly popular in our country. With toppings, such as fresh fruits, chia seeds, sunflower seeds or nuts, you can prepare a healthy, warm breakfast.

For Overnight Oats, soak 50 g of oat flakes in 100 ml of milk, almond milk, soy milk, rice milk or yoghurt in the evening and leave the mixture sealed in a container, swell overnight in the refrigerator. For a healthy breakfast you can sweeten the ready-to-eat oatmeal with honey or agave syrup. If you sprinkle nuts, almonds, fruits, fresh fruits, protein powder or seeds over it, you will increase the health factor.
